Assuming you’re in a self-respecting league, the trade deadline has passed. It’s likely that the waiver wire looks dryer than the Sahara desert. At this point, you should be well aware as to where you stand in the playoff race. If you’ve secured your spot, well done! If you’ve secured a first round bye, even better! Honestly, at this point, even if you control your own destiny as it pertains to you making the playoffs, give yourself a pat on the back. Regardless, it’s really hard to make improvements to your team at this point. With all the injuries that have piled up all year long, at this point, it’s just bandaids and prayers. Hey, someone has to win this thing. Why not you? With that, let’s take a look at two players that can improve your depth heading into likely the final week of the fantasy regular season.

Adonai Mitchell - New York Jets Wide Receiver - ESPN

Adonai Mitchell

How could we not include the only player all day Sunday (day games) to have over 100 yards receiving. Last week, I mistakenly thought that John Metchie would take over as the Jets’ WR1. After a week in which Mitchell recorded an 8-102-1 receiving line, it appears like he has earned himself some flex consideration. I would caution fantasy managers to not put too much stock into this performance as this Jets’ offense is a volatile one to say the least. Last week it was Metchie. This week it was Mitchell. It certainly would not surprise us if next week it’s either one of them or someone completely different. With Tyrod Taylor at the helm, the only thing that you can bank on is unpredictability. So once again, proceed with caution, but simply based on stats, Mitchell is easily one of the most intriguing waiver wire prospects heading into week 14.

Should Blake Corum be rostered in all fantasy football leagues going forward?

Blake Corum

If you’re in search of running back depth, Corum is likely the best option that’s still out there. Unless you’re in a 6 man league, you’ll be hard pressed to somehow stumble across any team’s RB1 just sitting there for the taking at this juncture of the season. However, Corum presents as one of the league’s best backup running backs. Not only that, his usage in the past month demonstrates Rams’ head coach Sean McVay’s growing confidence in him. In the five games since the Rams week 8 bye, Corum has posted double digit carries in 2 of those contests, and has not fallen below 7 carries in any game. This past Sunday’s loss against the Panthers was perhaps Corum’s best performance of the year where he carried the ball 7 times for 81 yards and found pay dirt for the second time this season. Similar to Mitchell, please don’t add Corum thinking that you’ve found your league winner. But once again, if you find yourself searching for RB depth late in the season, give Blake Corum a look.
