Week 5 Waiver Targets

In Week 5, fantasy players should consider targeting standout performers like Khalil Herbert and Tyler Allgeier, who have shown increased workloads and potential for higher production. Additionally, keep an eye on emerging talents such as Romeo Doubs and Mike White, who could fill critical gaps in your roster due to injuries and inconsistent performances from starters. Prioritize these players on waivers to strengthen your team going forward.

Week 4 is in the books, and let’s call it how it is, the waiver wire is getting very thin. Many of the early season surprises and breakouts have already been picked up, and we are officially entering the time of year where byes are going to become an issue. That is why working the waiver wire and loading your bench with savvy pickups is so crucial at this time of the season. It’s no secret that depth is a necessary component to a solid fantasy team because without it, you are one pulled hamstring away from seeing your season waste away (sorry Mike Evans). So with that, let’s take a look at two guys you should add to increase your depth, and therefore your chances at surviving bye season.

Kendre Miller - New Orleans Saints Running Back - ESPN

Kendre Miller

Miller is far from a flashy name, but remember, at this point in the season, you’re not looking for flashy, you’re looking for fill-in guys who can get the job done. That’s exactly what we saw out of Kendre Miller this past weekend. In the Saints’ loss to the Bills, Miller carried the ball 11 times for 65 yards and a touchdown. That is easily his best performance of the season as not only did starting RB Alvin Kamara only have 4 more carries, but Miller was more efficient with his touches, averaging 5.9 YPC to Kamara’s 4.7. Now let’s be clear about something, Kamara is still the guy in this backfield. But with that being said, Kamara is also 30 years old. It’s certainly not surprising that the 23 year old Miller might start to eat into some of his touches as the season progresses, just as we saw yesterday. So if you’re an Alvin Kamara owner looking to lock up the Saints’ backfield, or just a manager looking to add some solid depth to your reserve unit, look into picking up Kendre Miller ahead of week 5.

Wild Jalen Tolbert stat shows just how bad things went for the Cowboys in 2024

Jalen Tolbert

Tolbert is another guy whose name certainly doesn’t jump off the page at you, yet the numbers can’t be denied. In Sunday nights’ tie against the Packers, Tolbert was the second most targeted player on the Cowboys with 6, hauling in 4 of them for 61 yards. This target share is a clear signal that during CeeDee Lamb’s multi-week absence, Tolbert will certainly be the Cowboys’ second receiving option behind George Pickens. Please keep in mind, Tolbert is only roster worthy during Lamb’s absence. When Lamb returns, he will immediately take over the alpha WR1 role, with Pickens resuming his role as WR2. This will effectively make Tolbert cuttable. However, in the meantime, take advantage of Tolbert’s value. Whether you are scrambling to find receiving help after the losses of Lamb or Malik Nabers, or if you just want to add more depth to your receiver room, consider adding Jalen Tolbert.
