Week 6 Waiver Targets

Target these players to improve your TE depth heading into week 6.

As the great coach Bill Parcells once said, “You are what your record says you are.” Five weeks into the season and that remains more true than ever. No longer are you able to declare your team off to a “slow start.” You either have a good team, a mediocre team, or a bad team. With that, however, there are still several moves you can make in order to improve upon your situation, or wherever you might fall on that spectrum. Maybe you have your sights set on a flashy stud via a blockbuster trade. But realistically, you have to prioritize improving in the margins. Which is why working the waiver wire is such an essential part of quality fantasy football management. Here are two players to target ahead of week 6.

Theo Johnson 'learned a lot' from ex-New York Giant Evan Engram at Tight End U - Yahoo Sports

Theo Johnson

Although the Giants looked abysmal in their 26-14 loss at New Orleans on Sunday, TE Theo Johnson proved to be one of the few bright spots. On the Giants first offensive possession, QB Jaxson Dart found Johnson for a one yard touchdown. Then on their second offensive possession, Dart once again found Johnson in the end zone for his second TD of the day, and third in the past two weeks. Johnson would finish the day with a 6-33-2 receiving line on 7 targets, tied for the team lead. With Malik Nabers sidelined for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, someone amongst the Giants pass catchers has to step up and present as a red zone target for rookie Jaxson Dart. It appears through a game and a half of Nabers’ absence, that player is Johnson. In a tight end group that isn’t overly impressive, target Johnson to potentially fill a position of need on your roster.

Mason Taylor injury update, status vs. Cowboys in Week 5

Mason Taylor

Taylor, who was selected 42nd overall out of LSU by the Jets in the 2025 NFL Draft, broke out in a big way during the Jets’ loss to the Cowboys on Sunday. Despite only having 16 targets combined through weeks 1-4, Taylor led all Jets (yes, even Garret Wilson) in targets on Sunday with 12, while hauling in 9 receptions for 67 yards. While we wouldn’t expect the LSU product to average double digit targets moving forward, this is his third consecutive week with at least 6 targets, thus signaling a desire by Justin Fields and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand to get Taylor more involved. The Jets, undoubtedly one of the worst teams in the league, will have to put the ball in the air more often than not in order to stay in games. Justin Fields threw the ball a whopping 46 times this past week. While that’s not usually a recipe for team success, in this case, it’s a great recipe for success as it pertains to Taylor’s fantasy value moving forward. Similar to Theo Johnson above, if you find yourself struggling at TE, consider adding Taylor in order to fill a position of need moving forward.
