Week 6 is in the books. If we’ve learned anything over the course of the first month and half of the season, it’s that many of us did something to really upset the football gods going into the 2025 season. I’ve played fantasy football since 2008, and I am unable to pinpoint any season between now and then that has been worse injury wise. Listing all of the significant injuries in totality would simply be too long of a list. But this week, Buccaneers’ star wideout Emeka Egbuka joined the party with a hamstring injury that should keep him out a few weeks. Usually, in these types of articles, we say “If you’ve been impacted by the injury bug…” but I’m just going to go ahead and assume that everyone, in some way, shape, or form this year, has had an injury impact their starting lineup. With that, let’s go ahead and take a look at some guys to target on the waiver wire heading into week 7.

Kayshon Boutte's patience pays off in expensive Patriots win over Saints

Kayshon Boutte/DeMario Douglas

Boutte and Douglas’s inclusion on this list honestly has less to do with themselves, and much more to do with the buzzsaw that Drake Maye has become. Patriots’ fans have every reason to dive head first into Drake Maye-nia, as he has now led them to three consecutive victories. In those games, he has been responsible for 6 total touchdowns and over 700 passing yards. During this stretch, Boutte, Douglas, and Stefon Diggs have all gotten an opportunity to shine. So why are we including them together, as opposed to giving each their flowers separately? Well the simple answer is that as great as Drake Maye has looked, it’s highly unlikely that he’s going to be able to keep 3 different receivers fantasy relevant on a weekly basis. Based on trends we’ve seen these past few weeks, some weeks it’s going to be Boutte, others it might be Douglas, and others it might be Diggs or any two man permutation of those three. With that, add and start these guys at your own risk. Diggs is likely already rostered in your league, but when it comes to whether or not to rely on Boutte and Douglas, it should depend on the makeup of your team. Are you looking for a safe floor of around 7-9 points? In which case, these should not be the top names on your wish list. Or are you looking for boom potential with the understanding that 3-5 points is a possible floor for these guys? If you’re in a position to accept that, consider adding Boutte or Douglas ahead of their week 7 matchup in Tennessee.

Cardinals WR Zay Jones suspended 5 games to start the 2024 NFL season : r/DynastyFF

Zay Jones

Let’s start by saying that like the previous two players, Jones comes with a caveat as well. Cardinals second year receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. entered the concussion protocol after his head banged off the turf during a reception against the Colts on Sunday. If he is unable to go next Sunday against the Packers, managers should consider replacing him with his backup. Despite only garnering 7 targets total through weeks 1-5, Jones saw 8 targets in week 6 alone, hauling in 7 of them for 79 yards. While he may not be a flashy name, those numbers speak for themselves. If MHJ finds himself still in concussion protocol going into next week, Jones presents as a safer floor compared to most other waiver wire options, especially if backup Jacoby Brissett is once again the starter. However, even if usual Cardinals’ starter Kyler Murray is back, we still expect Jones to maintain a relatively safe floor with moderate boom upside.
