Week 9 Waiver Targets
See who you should be targeting on waivers this week as we approach the home stretch of the fantasy regular season.
We are officially in the stretch run of the fantasy regular season. For many leagues, your playoffs run week 15-17, meaning you only have 6 weeks remaining in the regular season to put yourself in the best position to capture that championship. For some of you, you’re fortunate enough to be fighting for the top 2 seeds to earn that first round bye. Others are jockeying for position from seeds 3-5. While some of us are hoping to do just enough to sneak into the playoffs as one of the final seeds. The great thing if you find yourself in a head to head league, as many fantasy leagues are structured, is that you don’t need to be the best team over the course of the season. You just need to get hot at the right time. Let’s take a look at some players that can help you put yourself in that exact position.

Roman Wilson
In a game in which both teams seemed to sleepwalk through the first half, the Steelers found themselves still asleep at the wheel through much of the second half as they very quickly blew their 16-7 lead and trailed for much of the remaining time in the game. This type of game script led to the Steelers throwing the ball exactly double the amount of times they ran the ball. 36 to 18 to be exact. Wilson was perhaps the biggest beneficiary as he led the Steelers in receiving yards with 74, was tied for second in receptions with 4, and was third in targets with 5. He added a touchdown late in the game to cap off a very impressive fantasy night. In looking at the Steelers’ upcoming games, it’s likely that they will once again find themselves in a position where the passing attack will have to be relied on in order to remain in the game. In week 9, they face the 7-1 Colts who have been blowing teams out this season. In week 10 they face a mediocre defense in the Chargers. And finally in week 11 they go up against one of the worst defensive teams in the league in the Bengals. With his recent involvement in the offense, coupled with some matchups that range from above average to great in the coming weeks, Roman Wilson should be on your radar when you submit your waiver claim this week.

Tyrone Tracy
Let’s be clear about one thing. Tyrone Tracy is not a good running back. He converted from a receiver to a running back during his collegiate years at Purdue. It’s clear he lacks the size, speed, durability, and vision that it takes to become even a middle of the road NFL back. With that being said, it would be impossible to leave him off this list given that he’s now the New York Giants’ RB1. It’s with great caution that I tell you to consider adding him this week and it’s simply due to the fact that injuries have made fantasy managers feel miserable all year long, and Cam Skattebo’s inclusion on the laundry list of brutal injuries this season is no different.
